At the first day of the Rotterdam PSA Open the home crowd saw a lot of interesting matches, but only a few tournament upsets. In the men’s competition Paul Gonzalez surprisingly beat Nido Vidal with 3 – 2. In the other games it was, according to tournament’s director Joeri Hapers, business as usual. Although home favourite Knut Hogervorst almost surprised Valentin Rapp. Valentin afer an entertaining match Kut lost with 3-1.
In the ladies part of the tournament there were more surprises. Yujin Shin did beat Milena Velychko in a close 3-2 match. Pika Rupar lost to Cjloe Kalvo in an attractive match. The talented Elcke Mols outran Vhabis Bulsara. And to save the last but certainly not the least: Victoria’s own Eva Maas put a smile to every one’s face after winning a straight 3-0 to Francesca Whyte. A win nobody expected, according to Joeri Hapers.
